The audience of West Midland exporters were engaged by the interactive presentations given by Bribery Act experts Amanda Beaton and Andrew Sanderson. Both speakers addressed a number of key issues when dealing with the risks and informed the delegates of the processes and procedures that they can adopt to protect themselves in this area.

The seminar ended with a survey led by Karen Mercer-West where a surprise 0% of the audience considered their companies currently correctly and adequately protected. All delegates felt that further to attending the event they were in a better position to make changes and improvements in the area. We hope that by facilitating these two Bribery Act events and raising awareness of this area, MWTF members will take this opportunity to start taking steps to have policies in place by the 1st July 2011.

They were told the UK has a strong reputation in the Nordic countries and with highly educated consumers, high living standards and the widespread use of English they could be an ideal stepping stone for those firms making tentative steps in to Europe.

The Baltics are also a good test market for new exporters, and are particularly suitable for niche products and innovative solutions with local firms very keen to work with foreign businesses. The geography also means they are useful for those wanting to explore opportunities in Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States countries.
